“My name is Oliver, I am seventeen years old and I currently work at Bradbury Group as a CNC Tooling Programmer Apprentice, whilst studying a Level 3 NVQ qualification in engineering.
I have always been interested in a career in engineering and started to gain an understanding of this particular subject whilst attending Winterton Community Academy. After completing my GCSEs I decided to go to North Lindsey College, where I could carry on my studies to help further develop my skills. Whilst attending college in 2016, I had the opportunity to join Bradbury as an apprentice, which I immediately knew would be the ideal route for me, as working in a hands-on environment can be extremely beneficial.
At Bradbury, I was able to visit each department; learning the entire process of how the doors are made and what affect my job role would have on others. This helped me to understand key tasks needed to develop my role further. I have also been trained as a CNC programmer for the Salvagnini machine, which punches and folds the door skins, ready to be put together further down the production line.
Thanks to my apprenticeship I have been trusted with an important job role that goes beyond what I could have learnt at school. I feel confident in my current skillset knowing that I can continue to pursue a career in engineering in the near future. After completing my apprenticeship I hope to become a full-time CNC Programmer at Bradbury.”
