Representatives from the Bradbury Group were honoured to receive the North Lindsey College ‘Apprentice Employer of the Year’ award (sponsored by Ongo), at a glittering Hollywood themed awards ceremony on the 8th March. The event was held in celebration and recognition of NLC’s apprenticeship students’ achievements over the past year, with guest presenter Ashley Porter-Exley, Apprenticeship and Enterprise Ambassador at The Queen’s Young Leaders Programme and winner of the BBC’s Young Apprentice. We also sponsored the ‘Lifetime Apprentice’ award, which was awarded to Rob Ingham.
The event was a great demonstration of the benefits that hiring apprentices can bring to a business. We originally started the Bradbury Engineering Academy in response to difficulty recruiting skilled engineers in the North Lincolnshire area, which was holding back the business’ ambitious growth plans. Six apprentices joined the R&D department back in October 2014, with two more set to start at the end of March 2016. Alongside our Academy students are two engineering apprentices, an I.T apprentice, and a marketing apprentice.
Each apprentice has a clear career path focused towards a full time role upon completion of their apprenticeship, and they have played key roles in promoting the academy and its expansion, through attendance at open evenings and assisting with various marketing projects.
