Earlier this year, Bradbury Group launched the Bradbury Academy; a dedicated education, training and skills development scheme for our employees.
The Academy encourages employees to fulfil their potential and gives them the opportunity to shape the future of the group, in turn ensuring we employ a skilled and motivated workforce.
We recently caught up with Olivia Leggott, Contracts Coordinator at Bradbury Group to discuss how the launch of the Bradbury Academy has helped her aspirations grow and changed the course of her career, with the support of the Bradbury workforce.
Name: Olivia Leggott
Current role: Contracts Coordinator
Joined Bradbury Group in: 2020
Previous job: Full-time business student at North Lindsey College
I started at Bradbury Group doing a work experience placement as a part of my college course. Throughout the placement, all of the staff were really friendly and made me feel so welcome. It was clear from the get go that the group was going through a period of expansion and I really wanted to be a part of that growth.
After completing my course, I received a phone call with a job offer for me to join the group as a permanent tele-marketing executive. I spent some time in that role before moving to the expanding installation team, where I still am today!
When I first joined Bradbury Group a few years ago, I knew I wanted to personally grow alongside the company opted to enhance my career through an apprenticeship. After working within the installations department for a year and a half, I began working with Learning and Development Facilitator, May Foxton to find a course that would work cohesively with my role. I decided on a BSc (Hons) Project Management course through QA Ltd and I’m now eight months into it.
The Bradbury Academy has made a huge difference to my career. It is already helping me speak and carry out tasks with more confidence. The Academy is a great way for anyone within the group to progress in their career should they want to and really highlights how much the group cares about individual career goals.
It has made me feel as though I have more of a purpose at work, as I’m now working towards a target, and that I’m constantly progressing.
The degree I am currently studying is a BSc (Hons) Project Management which is a fully online course, meaning it is really flexible around my job role. The course involves studying various modules, including; commercial and contract management, finance management, risk management, governance frameworks and many more. In addition, I will be completing my professional practice assignments and building my portfolio.
I would like to remain a part of Bradbury Group. I have progressed very quickly since beginning my career here in August 2020 and would like to continue to grow as the company expands. Also, I intend to continue down the project management route, working within the installations team and potentially getting involved with longer-term, in-house projects.
My team has been extremely supportive of my decision to study alongside work. They have helped me throughout my course so far and give me tasks and small projects to manage to ensure I’m continuing to get crucial hands-on experience as well as theory; to be honest, everyone at Bradbury Group has been great and offered me endless support.
