Installing Intelligent entry doorsets for communal housing project

In September  2022, Bradbury Group installed eight ClassicAL doors at a low-rise block of flats for Central Bedfordshire Council.

The replacement doors installed were a combination of Front Entrance and Rear entrance doors, providing fire integrity and security protection to the communal housing, as well as Network Communication Systems Limited, NCS, Chorus remote access management. The new intelligent door sets were designed to replace existing doors which were aged and not secure, leading to several instances of anti-social behaviour.

Utilising intelligent entry systems

The replacement doors were designed to function alongside a cloud-based entry door system, incorporating at manufacturing Stage, the Network Communications Systems Chorus intelligent entrance solution. This Chorus intelligent entry system provides access to the building remotely from anywhere in the country.

The ClassicAL Door sets are compliant to LPS 2018 Security Rating B and were installed with an NCS Chorus Door Entry Panel to the front, integral access control, dual maglocks and push-to-exit buttons. The rear doors were installed with Access Control Readers. The wiring was concealed within the frames to provide the customer with a fully integrated, vandal-resistant door set.

Chris Sale, Planned Works Team Leader at Central Bedfordshire said “We have worked with NCS for over 20 years and are migrating our Door Entry Systems to their Chorus Cloud Based System. This will allow us to manage the Doors and Access Control Systems from anywhere in the borough. The Chorus System coupled with the Classical doors gives us total piece of mind about site, residents, and Staff safety, plus they look smart too.”

The importance of door surveys

Any project requires a site survey from an experienced team and this project was no different! Bradbury Group worked alongside NCS to conduct a full joint survey, ensuring cut-outs and mounting options were correct and ensuring a seamless installation. Ongoing consultation between the teams and estimators were pivotal to the success of this project.

The project was completed in a relatively short space of time, with the design, approval and installation all taking place within just 8 weeks.

We have been working with Central Bedfordshire Council for a number of years and our partnership working with Bradbury doors gives us the ability to provide the client with a best-in-class Chorus Door Entry System and First-class Fire Exit Doors from Bradbury Group” stated Paul Bennett, Managing Director of NCS.  “The End-to-End service we receive from Bradbury Group makes the whole process run smoothly for both ourselves and the client and the standards, quality and customer satisfaction we receive is excellent.”

An ongoing project

After these initial blocks were completed, Central Bedfordshire Council requested a further 7 doors in the immediate area which were also replaced. Due to the success of this project, replacement doorsets and Chorus Door Entry Systems are now being installed across the county.
