Liberty Quays required doors to replace existing double doors which were in poor condition. Bradbury Group were tasked with providing doors which provided general access and egress for students via the active door leaf, but which could have both the passive and active leafs fully opened to allow the maximum clear opening for egress in case of an emergency.

A steel door was the preferred option, as we had supplied steel doors to their student accommodation blocks in Medway, and it was perceived as being stronger and more durable. They also requested a leaf and a half door, but we had never manufactured a leaf and a half communal door before.
Newton Security Doors came up with a solution. As we offer aluminium double doorsets, but not steel, an aluminium leaf and a half doorset was offered as an alternative solution, with stainless steel reinforcing. This enabled us to achieve the required clear opening, as well as a high durability. These were the first ClassicAL leaf and a half doors ever made and installed, which Liberty Living were fully aware of but had sufficient confidence in Bradbury Group and Newton Security Doors to allow us to provide the solution they required.
