“My name’s Katie Harrison, I’m 22 years old, and I started as an apprentice at Bradbury in February 2016. As part of my apprenticeship, I am completing a Level 3 NVQ and Certificate in Marketing through North Lindsey College.
After leaving school in 2011, I attained A-levels, and then went on to study a degree in Business Administration at university. However, I decided that this wasn’t what I wanted to do and didn’t return after my first year.
Since leaving university in 2014, I gained work experience in several sectors such as business administration, sales and marketing, and completed the Prince’s Trust Team Programme. This all led to my decision to do an apprenticeship in Marketing.
In 2015, I enrolled at North Lindsey College on a Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, whilst working part time at Debenhams. Through college, I discovered that Bradbury was looking to hire a marketing apprentice, and applied for the position immediately!
An apprenticeship appealed to me as it’s a superlative way to gain both experience and qualifications simultaneously. Apprenticeships are an ideal foundation of entry into the marketing sector, providing a variety of opportunities for progression.
I’m now a Marketing Executive within the Bradbury Group, which involves designing brochures, posting on social media, writing content for the blog, editing the website, creating posters, notices and images, using Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
I’m pleased I decided to do an apprenticeship in marketing; I love my job and enjoy working with the team at Bradbury. Once I complete my apprenticeship this year, I hope to secure a permanent position in the marketing department at Bradbury.”
