Bradbury Group played their first friendly match at North Lindsey College on Friday 24th May. Playing against BAPP, one of our local suppliers, we managed to achieve a respectable 6-6 draw after playing some outstanding football in baking hot conditions.

Bradbury Group’s team comprised of:
GK – Pete “Casper” Currie
Outfield – Dean “My Corner” Broughton
Outfield – Dan “The Bear” Bradley
Outfield – Martin “My Best Mate is Jake Quickenden” Pembleton
Outfield – Chris “Tip Run” McDonald
Outfield – Craig “Mr Perfect” Shorthose
Outfield – Tom “Peter Pan” Fairbrother

Team Manager, Andy Kilmartin, gives his account of the match:

After a nervy start, BAPP took the lead but, within seconds, a cultured lob by Dean brought the teams back to level at 1-1. Martin then made it 2-1 with a well-worked team move, and Chris then made it 3-1 with a mazy run and clinical finish.

The second half soon led to Dan passing a majestic outside right foot pass to Dean, splitting the defence and allowing him to beat the defenders with ease, slotting home his second goal of the match to make it 4-1. Bradbury Group then had a nervy 5 minutes in which they switched off and conceded two quick goals which put the score at 4-3.

Tom then intercepted a pass and rifled it into BAPP’s bottom corner to make it 5-3. At this time, Bradbury Group were playing some expansive football and this led to us conceding another cheap goal, making it 5-4. Martin then sparked the team back into life with a great solo effort giving the keeper no chance to make it 6-4. A mixture of tired legs and missed chances resulted in the final score being 6-6.

The rematch will be taking place next month. Details to be announced once the venue has been finalised. If you are interested in representing your company and playing against Bradbury Group, email enquiries@bradbury-group.com.
