Bradbury Group recently opened a gym at our headquarters in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. A grand total of £150,000 has been invested into the construction and kitting out of the gym, which is exclusively for employees of the Group.
The gym contains professional equipment to satisfy all gym goers, including a large free-weight selection, full cardio section, strength training machines, and a stretching and kettlebell area. It also has a Bluetooth audio system, a filtered water dispenser, segregated changing rooms with lockers and showers, and high-impact rubber flooring.
This is a fantastic facility for our employees, with no monthly fee! Tim Strawson, Managing Director, felt strongly about making sure this was as beneficial for staff as possible. For that reason, employees only have to pay a small yearly induction fee of just £15.
The gym has been named Made 2 Motivate; a play on our ‘made to measure’ (M2M) range of steel doors. We ran a competition where employees suggested names for the gym, then voted for their favourite.
Since opening the Made 2 Motivate gym in June, we have already had an uptake of over 70 employees, with inductions still ongoing! Strawson was passionate about providing our staff with a gym, and is pleased with the results so far:
“We are always looking for ways to improve the facilities for our staff. When gauging interest in a potential gym, more than 50% of employees said they would use the facility. We had the space and resources to provide a gym, and felt that this would benefit our staff. I recognise that being fit promotes better health, including mental health, and allows employees to bond from different areas of the business. I’m pleased to see that this investment has already been worthwhile.”
We’d like to give special thanks to contractors George Harvey and Sam Cowman, and to Wayne Lewis, Maintenance Manager, and Mark Jones, Commercial Operations Manager, for their commitment to creating this fantastic facility.
