Wickes

Wickes is a well-recognised home improvement retailer and garden centre based in the United Kingdom, with more than 230 stores throughout the country. Its main business is the sale of supplies and materials for homeowners and the building trade.

Wickes sites across the UK were experiencing huge losses of stock during a spate of ‘smash and grab’ burglaries. Thieves were gaining access into buildings via unsecure rear fire exit doors, and loading thousands of pounds worth of stolen stock into getaway vans. Wickes’ central operations and loss prevention team decided it was time to upgrade physical security measures on their most vulnerable sites, and turned to Bradbury Group after hearing of our reputation in this field.

The Challenge

Wickes sites across the UK were experiencing huge losses of stock during a spate of ‘smash and grab’ burglaries. Thieves were gaining access into buildings via unsecure rear fire exit doors, and loading thousands of pounds worth of stolen stock into getaway vans. Wickes’ central operations and loss prevention team decided it was time to upgrade physical security measures on their most vulnerable sites, and turned to Bradbury Group after hearing of our reputation in this field.

The Solution

After close consultation with Wickes’ loss prevention team, a total of fifteen sites across the UK were upgraded with Bradbury Group’s M2M3 doors. Certified to LPS 1175 SR3, these doors provide an impenetrable barrier to all but the most extreme and high noise level tools.

In 2016, thieves once again tried to target a Wickes store – but this time, they were unsuccessful due to the installation of our M2M3 doors.

M2M3 resisted multiple attempts to damage the lock, leaving the burglars no option other than to reverse their van at speed into the door. This method was also unsuccessful, the M2M3 held fast and the thieves had to leave empty-handed, to the ultimate satisfaction of the client.
