We understand that behind every great company is a great workforce made up of individuals who are positive, passionate and hardworking.
Recently the group has been investing in several early-career schemes to develop the next generation of talent in our business. We heard from our apprentices, William and Bailey, back in February when we celebrated National Apprenticeship Week. This week we’re focussing on Engineering Design Graduate, Lewis Feather.
We welcomed Lewis to our Engineering team back in April 2021. Lewis graduated in 2019 with a degree in Motorsports Engineering from the University of Derby and completed a placement year in Manufacturing Engineering at Faurecia.
Here’s what he thinks of his first 2 months in the role.
“Since starting I have faced a steep learning curve to understand the technical and manufacturing aspects of the engineering role. The nature of made to measure products means each product is unique and so the level of technical knowledge required was higher than I first thought. Everyone has been very welcoming and has made me feel like a genuine part of the team which made this process a lot easier.”
“Within the first few months, I have enjoyed being involved in several projects including testing, designing and advising with customer enquiries. Being a part of the small team has allowed me to see designs from initial specification to manufacture which is a highly rewarding experience.
Each day is different which makes the role very enjoyable and means I am continually learning new processes and overcoming different challenges. I look forward to continuing my development within the team.”
Due to the success of our first graduate design engineer recruitment, we are now looking for another graduate to join the team based at our Head Office in Scunthorpe. The role encompasses design, project work, problem-solving and testing to continue to develop your technical skills. If you have graduated in the last 3 years or are graduating this summer with at least a 2:2 in a relevant Engineering degree and some engineering work experience, we would love to hear from you.
If engineering isn’t for you, we’ll soon be recruiting for a Business Graduate Scheme with applications opening in Summer 2021. This will complement our sales graduate scheme which starts in July 2021.
Every month we like to shine a spotlight on a different Bradbury Group team member. This month, we’re chatting with Georgia Burton, Internal Specifier.
